Privacy Policy

The Center for Leadership Studies (CLS) cares about online security and protecting User personal information. Our Privacy Policy is designed to provide such protections to make User transactions and interactions with us secure by governing the manner in which CLS collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from Users of our websites (“Sites”), students of our classes and all other customers of our products and services (each, a “User”). This Privacy Policy applies to our websites and all products and services offered by CLS.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding User personal information, CLS will not collect User personal information without User knowledge. We will also take reasonable steps to protect the security of User personal information and we will not disclose it to third parties unless required to do so by law or in connection with use of our products or services. Furthermore, Users may view any personal information we have about them, and correct, modify or delete it if inaccurate, incomplete or no longer relevant.

Personal Identification Information

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our Sites, register for courses, complete assessments or in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Sites. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number and credit card information.

We will collect personal identification information from Users who voluntarily submit information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain activities on our Sites.

Personal information collected from assessments is only used to generate profiles as part of the User training experience or to represent an aggregate view of selected data. It is not shared with third parties or a User’s employer unless it is part of the employer’s training practices. Personal information may also be shared with persons within CLS who have a legitimate business need to access it as part of their job duties.

Non-Personal Identification Information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Sites. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about User’s means of connection to our Sites, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers’ utilized and other similar information.

Web Browser Cookies

Our Sites may use “cookies” to enhance the User’s experience. A User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. Users may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies or to alert the User when cookies are being sent. If the User does so, note that some parts of the Sites may not function properly.

How We Collect and Use Information

CLS collects and uses Users’ personal information necessary to provide products or services for the following purposes:

  • To improve customer service
    User information helps us to more effectively respond to their customer service requests and support needs
  • To personalize User experience
    We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Sites
  • To improve our Sites
    We continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from Users
  • To process transactions
    We may use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order only to provide service to that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service
  • To send periodic emails
    When a User provides an email address for order processing, the User’s email will be used to send them information and updates pertaining to their order. It may also be used to respond to their inquiries and/or other requests or questions. Users may also receive emails that could include company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. If, at any time, the User would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email or User may contact us via our Sites
  • In connection with assessments
    When a User takes an assessment, we collect unique information about the User, which may include tenure at a company, gender, educational level and similar information. We only collect the response to the answers to the assessment so we can provide the User with a report to facilitate his/her professional growth

CLS does not sell, disclose or provide personal information to third parties unless the User consents or we are legally required to do so.

How We Retain Personal Information

We retain scored item responses and the related report associated with the User’s ID or transaction number that an employer provided us in accordance with our internal record retention policy, generally for at least two (2) years from the date when a User takes an assessment. Thereafter, we retain the scored item responses and report for as long as the information is needed for our research, statistical analysis or product development unless the employer or applicable law dictates a different time period.

How We Protect User Information

We adopt generally accepted industry standards for appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of User personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Sites.

Sensitive and private data exchange between the Sites and its Users happens over an SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.

Data Accuracy

We exercise reasonable efforts to keep User personal information accurate. If a User believes their personal information is not correct, they should notify us as specified below so we can make the necessary changes.

User Rights

Right of Access, Modification

If a User wishes to have access to his/her personal information or to correct or update personal information that the User has previously provided us, the User should contact us as specified below.

If a User took an assessment and desires access to a copy of their responses or a copy of the assessment, the User should contact us as specified below.

Right of Deletion

If a User wishes to cancel his/her account or request that we no longer use his/her information to provide services, the User should contact us as specified below. We will accommodate the User’s request to the extent practicable, as long as it does not otherwise conflict with any of our other obligations. We reserve the right to retain and use the User’s information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Compliance With Laws and Regulations

CLS will comply with all applicable laws related to personal information.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

CLS may change or update this Privacy Policy at any time. When we do, we will post revisions on this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. Users acknowledge and agree that it is their responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

User Acceptance of These Terms

By using our Sites or submitting personal information to us, the User signifies his/her acceptance of this Policy and the Terms and Conditions. The User’s acceptance also constitutes agreement that we may collect, use, disclose, store, transmit or process personal information in accordance with this Policy or as required by law. If the User does not agree with this Policy, they should not use our Sites. The User’s continued use of the Sites following the posting of changes to this Policy will be deemed acceptance of those changes.
